| Birding |
 | Birding can take place all over the area. There are about 250 bird-species around the peninsula. Best birding-spots are the estuary, the fynbos fields on the plains and in the mountains and along the fringes of the many wetlands and indigenous forests. Dyer Island is a sanctuary for the African penguin and over 30 coastal bird species.
